Focus: Psalm 25:14
"The secret of the Lord is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant." (KJV)
Read also Deuteronomy 29: 29
In our passage today, the "secret of the Lord" refers to intimate, confidential communion. It describes the kind of closeness found between best friends who share their deepest thoughts. Although God doesn't hide His heart from us; He hides His heart for us. This intimacy is reserved for "them that fear him." This isn't a terrified fear, but a profound reverence and awe—a heart that takes God seriously. When we honor Him as the priority of our lives, He begins to whisper His wisdom into our spirits.
The promise continues: "He will shew them his covenant." God wants to reveal the depth of His commitment to us. He wants us to understand the richness of His promises and how they apply to our specific situations. The more we walk in reverence, the more clearly we will hear His "still, small voice" guiding us through the complexities of our day. David, identified as the man after God’s heart, seldom did anything before first putting it unto the Lord with reverence fear. His name still rings bell today, not only in Israel but wherever Christians are found.
Intimacy requires quiet. Can you find five minutes of total silence today just to "be" with God, asking Him to speak to your heart? Throughout the day, remind yourself of who God is—the Creator of the stars and the Sustainer of your breath. Let that awareness change how you speak and act. When you face a challenge today, don't just look at the problem. Ask, "Lord, what promise from Your Word applies to this moment?"
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for the incredible invitation to know Your heart. I don't want to just know about You; I want to know You intimately. Teach me to walk in holy reverence and awe of who You are. Reveal the secrets of Your wisdom to me as I navigate this day, and help me to rest in the security of Your unbreakable covenant, forever in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Please share. God bless you.
