Focus: 2 Peter 3:13 - KJV
13. Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

Our God is a righteous God. He created man and created for him a kingdom on earth which was like the heavenly Kingdom where there existed no vice, but tranquility all through. It was not difficult for the man to relate with His God and to operate in dominion over all the other creatures as God intended it. The misbehavior of man has however turned the entire arrangement upside down, and by the domineering activities of the one to whom man surrendered the rein of the earth which was committed to him, the earth has returned to shambles and without the right form. The right form is the order that the Lord made it to be in, from the beginning. No wonder when Christ was to teach us to pray, He asked that we plead the Lord to let His Kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven. The tranquility in heaven is brought about by the righteousness of the dwellers thereat.
To bring a reordering of things, the Lord came into the world to redirect man to righteous living such that as many as believe in and obey Him, are taught to live in righteousness, just like the original heaven dwellers. As they thus live, they are able to attract the presence of God in their earthly domain as if they are in heaven. But, because they occupy the domain where riotous living is prevalent, with others who reject righteous living, the Lord has decided to redeem the earth from its shambolic state, by creating a new heaven and a new earth where only the righteous will dwell, going forward. Yes, He has allowed opportunity for those living outside righteousness to come to righteousness. Hence, He has allowed “the wheat and the chaff” to grow together until that day of separation when the wheat will be gathered into the new earth and the chaff into fire. Only the righteous will be found in the new earth as nothing riotous will be allowed there.
Today, the Lord is asking us to become pupils of the Holy Spirit by first submitting to the Lord Jesus Christ to take over our lives and live through us. Thereupon, the Holy Spirit takes us over to guide us into obedient living which translates to righteousness. Unless and until we do so become, we do not qualify to inherit the new abode which is meant entirely for the righteous. Those who reject the Lord’s offer, cannot be hopeful about the Lord’s promise of the new heaven and the new earth and therefore not on the lookout. It is better to be residents of the new heaven than to be consigned into fire. Hence, let us rather enroll in the school of the Holy Spirit while there is yet time.
SOLUTION: Enroll in the school where you can be taught righteousness by the leading of the Spirit. It is not a thing acquired by the flesh but made to happen by the Spirit. Righteousness is not attained by power or practice but by the operation of the Spirit, if we let Him take us over.
Please pray:
· Give thanks to God for inviting you to be a righteous dweller of the abode of the righteous
· Confess your registration in the school of the Holy Spirit and ask God to give you the fortitude to be a good pupil thereat
· Pray that whatever you do, the Holy Spirit will translate you into righteousness so that you may be worthy of the righteous kingdom to the very end
· Pray that you will never miss your reward as a part of the righteous and you will never be identified with the chaff
· Ask God for your daily bread for today
