Abounding in Good Works

Focus: 2 Corinthians 9:8 – KJV

8. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:

Luke 19:1-8

Good works are characterized by selflessness. It is about being able to engage in the ministry of the needy without a grudge and doing the same cheerfully with a clear heart purpose. Many do their own works for showmanship just so that people may assume they are good. Such works do not receive the blessings of God. But those who give cheerfully to the needy lend unto God and God in return does make all grace to abound toward them such that they do not lack any good thing. This is somewhat tricky though. Notice that the blessings of the Lord maketh rich and adds no sorrow. If therefore someone appears to be rich and lacks good health, it is an indication to test every spirit.

When God makes grace to abound towards a good worker, it is that the same may do much more good works and not cease. Ceasing from good works is like turning off the tap of the fountain. The mind of God is that we abound in good works. Zacchaeus the publican, was a man outside the Kingdom. He was willing to do good works and had restored to those he cheated much more than he took from them. Such a heart meets with grace of God and replenishment. No wonder Christ decided to stay in his house.

If you are given to the care of the needy, kudos to you. Please continue as the Lord is poised to bombard you with great grace. If you are yet to start, please get an understanding. Those we consider poor and needy were given birth to just like us. They didn’t have to choose their parents, location etc. They are who they are by circumstances of life and it could have happened to us. Because it did not happen to us, one sure way to show gratitude unto God is by taking care of them.

SOLUTION: Locate someone in need daily and strive to meet his/her needs for as much as your resources permit. But please do so cheerfully attaching no string to your doing.

May the Lord accept you and all your offerings from this day; may He forgive all the ones you did frowning and grumbling; may He bring His grace to abound towards you that you may also abound in good works in Jesus name. Keep up the good work. It pays.
