Abraham’s Blessings

Focus: Genesis 12:1-2 - KJV

1. Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee: 2. And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:

Hebrews 11:8-12

Everywhere in the world today, it is confirmed that Abraham was blessed of God. Not only did God bless Him, He also made him a blessing unto mankind. His blessings came out of being obedient to the voice of God, whom though he did not see, but believed. He was simply told to leave his kindred and proceed to a place to be shown him which place he had no geography of how to get to. When we read these things without putting it to heart, it sounds so simple and ordinary, but the truth is, it is not that easy a thing to do. Nonetheless, because Abraham obeyed and depended absolutely on God’s compass, not only was he blessed, he became truly a blessing to mankind.

Many people speak about faith but do not understand what it entails. Abraham had his own periods of wavering, but then, he was a super-man to have so obeyed and carry out God’s directive. He had no precedent to follow. We have at least his precedent today, yet what he did is now so difficult for many to do. God has told some to leave their jobs to do something else that would make them a blessing but they stuck with it. Others have been told to depart from a particular way they appear stuck with but fear will not let them and they thereby forfeit the blessing that was ahead for them.

The Lord is asking us to emulate Christ and learn from Abraham, in that He is a covenant keeper; if we will stick with Him to obey His voice despite not seeing Him, He would not only bless us but turn us into blessings. Let us start today by stopping right where we have reached in discountenancing the voice, and return to the path the voice has directed us to and see what the Lord will do. Oh, the voice may have come from the pulpit, from meditation or by direct instruction. All that is necessary is that we obey and yield ourselves to doing what we are told to do.

Please pray:

Thank you, father for the blessings I have from you thus far. In every way I have not been obedient to your direction, please forgive and redirect me, in Jesus’ name. Let the journey to my fulfilment of destiny be routed anew and help me never to deviate from the path you have laid down again, in Jesus’ name. I pray that you please bless me indeed today and make me a blessing to many generations from hence, in Jesus’ name.

Please share with others. God bless you.
