Focus: 1 Corinthians 1:10 - KJV
10. Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
1 Corinthians 11:17-22
Against the directives and thoughts of the initial champions of the Christian faith, there are great divisions in today’s Church, even in the local assemblies. Such divisions are the result of heresies and unfortunate as well as non-Christ-like doctrines, that glare the flock in the face. In the meantime, the times when the scripture is the exclusive property of the priest is past. People have access to the Word, the Holy Spirit and therefore, the truth. Therefore, it will appear that the divisive line is drawn between the truth and the traditions of men. What then is the interest of God: blend together pretending the doctrines of men are good, or making sure that everyone pursues the truth?
It is a fact that in the Church of today, some approve and practice gay relationships and marriage as well as trans gender matters. To them, it is a fundamental right of the concerned and therefore, the Church should not discriminate against them. On the other hand, there are those who believe it is against the injunction of God. This clearly, is a point of division and differences in judgment in the body. But what is the truth? Is God pleased with this practice of sodomy and altering one’s sex? The Bible is clear about how God hates sodomy; He particularly destroyed the whole of Sodom and Gomorrah for it. Also, God condemns lying even as He maintains that we are fearfully and wonderfully made. Changing our genders is only to say to God that He is wrong, or to use the right expression, unthoughtful/thoughtless to have made us in a particular sex.
The mind of God is that we be perfectly joined together as a church, in truth even as we together agree that what God does not approve, should not be mentioned among us. Those who practice things that God disapproves are not of God, and therefore, we ought not allow them bring contention in the Church. Let us therefore be careful with them so that our continued association with them does not draw us away from our God instead of drawing them to Him. Nothing destroys faster than falsehood. Don’t be drawn to it.
SOLUTION: Truth is constant. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. Anything outside of Him is not approvable. Therefore, let us pursue only those things He approves; those things that bring glory to His name. Please do not join the multitude to do evil. In all that is true and just, be perfectly joined with the Church without causing any division or being a part of any.
Pray: Father, please help your church to realize your position on all matters and live together without division, in Jesus’ name. As a part of the Church, do help me to be a builder of unity and not a source of division or contention, in Jesus’ name.
