Focus: 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 - KJV
16. Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, 17. Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.
2 Thessalonians 2:13-17
When the Lord Jesus Christ was with His disciples on earth, no one could confront them with any issue of the law successfully as they got adequate defense through the Lord Jesus Christ. For instance, when they were plucking and eating corn on the sabbath day as well as eating on when others were fasting, Jesus had simple answers for the purveyors of the law. This same Jesus was taken to the cross in the sight of the disciples. They became dejected and many of them returned to their old ways. But Christ upon resurrection and before ascension, showed Himself to the believers to comfort them and promised them that the Holy Spirit would come to give them full comfort, by grace. By this, every believer from that time has a form of consolation and hope of life in eternity. So, no matter what the enemy may do in the form of aggression against the believer, by the grace given us in the Lord Jesus Christ, the believer has comfort in the Holy Spirit. However, this comfort is not to endear the believer to do anyhow. It is such that they may continue and be established in every good word and work. By this, the Holy Spirit continues to abide with the believer. Otherwise, the Comforter may be grieved and depart.
Friend, there is no situation confronting us at this time that is greater than that which the early disciples faced when the Master was crucified. Thank God for the comfort we have in the Holy Spirit today. Please let the Holy Spirit comfort your heart and establish you in good word and work so that you don’t get moved to the point of losing faith and denying God. The disciples did so much wonders after the Lord ascended by the help of the Comforter. As the Comforter comforts you, God is going to also perform wonders through you and turn your test to testimony.
SOLUTION: No matter what a believer faces in this world, the thing to do is to stand firm in faith believing that consolation and comfort come next from the Holy Spirit. Watchword therefore is “stand still”.
The great Comforter, we adore you. We look to you for consolation in every sphere of life particularly because of the activities of the evil one. Please keep us in your solace in Jesus’ name. We desire strength in our inward beings through you; do please strengthen us in you in the name of Jesus Christ. The spirit is willing but the body is weak. At this time, please help everyone who is at the verge of throwing in the towel in Jesus’ name.
