Christ our Righteousness

Text: 2 Corinthians 5:21

For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Bible Reading:

2 Corinthians 5:14-21

Message:

It is important to understand that spiritual matters are not easily comprehensible to the canal mind but that understanding comes through the aid of the Holy Spirit who illuminates the mind. The work that Christ did to save mankind from doom is absolutely spiritual and must be considered in that light. He came and lived through this sphere without falling under servitude of the devil like the first Adam did - for you are the servant of whom you obey. Yet, he volunteered to die for that which the first Adam brought on his offspring. If he who had no sin died on behalf of the sinner and thereby pays the wages of his sin, then the sinner has died for his sin. It follows that every sinner that claims the benefit of such death is redeemed from the impending doom through the righteousness of the one that died. The price has therefore been paid for such once and for all and it behoves him not to return to servitude under the devil. Since he has been made the righteousness of God in Christ, he should remain righteous to enjoy the benefit of God. But why is it then so attractive to the one that has been ransomed to return to servitude by obeying the devil? Every time you yield to temptation you are making the death of Christ for your sin to be in vain and submitting to the devil afresh. The consequence of that is graver than when you were yet under the Adamic sin. Why don’t you flee from lust and every temptation that tend to lure you to destruction and hang on to Christ your Righteousness. Hide in Him. Live your life through Him and He, through the Holy Spirit will not allow you to fulfill the lust of the flesh.

Prayer:

Father, please hide me in you that your righteousness may remain with me to the end in Jesus name.
