Christ’s Priests

Focus: Revelation 20:6 - KJV

6. Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

Revelation 20:4-6; 11-15

There is a mystery that is currently unfolding about life. It cannot be right that those who spend their lives in pursuit of righteousness, and those who live otherwise, will be accorded equal treatment when they meet with God. It was not so between the rich man and Lazarus which was Christ’s way of giving us a glimpse into the afterlife. The main issue for us is: what is the first resurrection and what is the second death? In scriptural parlance, the first resurrection is the raising of those that were killed for the witness of Christ or His word. It will appear though that the same will include all the righteous dead who will be raised at the rapture. There is also those who, upon being baptized into the death and resurrection of Christ need not face death at all, but be taken up singly, like Elijah, or as a multitude, like at the rapture. These ones are the partakers of the first resurrection and will be priests unto God and Christ, who will reign with Him for a thousand years.

There is also the second death. The Bible says it is the casting of death and hell into the lake of fire. This presupposes that those who do not make the team of Christ’s priests, who had died and gone to hell, just like the rich man did, are included. When judgment happens after the millennial reign, those who were candidates of hell would have been judged by the books and since there will be no place for them in the City of Light, their abode will collapse into the lake of fire. From there, there will be no further call up: it is a place of eternal damnation, because they would have been condemned already by the Judge of the earth. To avoid, the second death, we are enjoined to work out our salvation with fear and trembling. As pleasure on earth seems sweet, it can equally be damnifying. We must not gain the world and forfeit our souls.

Friends, the second coming of Christ is imminent. Yes, we have been hearing that even before our fathers were born; yet, it is true and nearer today than it was in those days. Let us not allow the trivial things of the world, to lead us to hell, which by itself, is a place of torture. Those who make hell do not have the hope of escaping the lake of fire, which is a place of everlasting torment. Please do not yield when sinners entice you. Such enticements are like the bait placed around a hook and thrown to the fish. It puts the gullible fish to death and roasting in the oven of the deceiver. Please do not fall for the bait to sin. The only wages sin has is death; and death can be of two tranches. One leads to the other for the sinner. Please don’t be part of it. Rather, join the priests of Christ.

SOLUTION: Flee youthful lust and every semblance of evil. Do not wait to confirm if it is evil: once it looks like it, take to your heels.

Please pray agonizingly: Father, the torment in the world is painful enough; your death for our ransom must not be in vain. Please do not let us ever fall for the deception of the enemy that railroads to hell, in Jesus’ name. We want to reign with you: if we do not, what will be the benefit of our knowing you, dear Lord? Therefore, in your love and affection, please keep us in the narrow way so that we may be your priests in the end, in Jesus’ name.
