Come And Drink

ree

Focus: John 7:37-38 - KJV

37. In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. 38. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

Isaiah 55:1-5

There is a nerve-racking thirst that flows from the enemy after having kept man in the scorchy side of the world through deceit and antagonism to the voice of the Lord. Ironically, everyone that becomes so thirsty for lack of living waters may end up damaging the organs in them that help them to live meaningfully. There is however a way out. Christ is the bread of life and not only does He give bread for strength, He affords the victim living waters for a new life. He sees the situation of men in the scorchy desert of the world and therefore releases a loving cry unto all who are in such crisis to come and drink from Him. Like David, those who do so, receive life and life more abundantly. God makes such a person a commander of the people, and  aside from that, God glorifies him.

A troubling thirst came in the life of a woman in the days of Christ on earth. She was a widow, then her only son died and was being carried to the tomb. She was at the end of the road regarding her life. Sorrow had made her a pity sight. Then she encountered the bread of life as she hungered and thirsted. The source of living waters offered her drink by touching the brier in which her son was carried and the dead arose. Suddenly the thirst of the woman was quenched and from that day till now, rivers of living waters flow from her experience to the whole world through the testimony.

The Lord has invited and has promised to quench the thirst of those who come to Him to drink. Incidentally the invitation is to buy, eat and drink without money. Hence, nothing ought to bar the thirsty from approaching the sole solution to the problem. God wants us to come freely to take the solution to our problems. Why must we continue to languish in pain when we have a free offer to tap from, to get peace and rest that is everlasting? The Lord is keen on helping us. Let us accept His offer. It may not remain open forever.

Please pray:

Thank you, father for your benevolence and faithfulness to me in the times of trouble. Please give me your water that it may develop in me a well and indeed a spring of living waters flowing unto others for life, in Jesus’ name. Please quench my current thirst of today and make me the best that you can, in the name of Jesus. Everything that constitutes the source of thirst and dryness in my life, please deal with them now, in Jesus’ name.

Please share with others. God bless you.
