Converse Spirits

Focus: 1 Corinthians 2:12 - KJV

12. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

1 John 4:1-6

There are spirits and there is a Spirit which is of God. Aside the Spirit of God, every other spirit is contrary and therefore of the world. God is good and is abundant in mercy. His gifts unto mankind are numerous and beyond ordinary knowledge. But, the Spirit of God, who understands and can unearth the deep things of God knows everything that the Lord has afforded us as His children. The spirit of the world is corrupt and positioned to take man far away from the gifts of God. But by the Spirit of God, we get to discover, to a large extent, God’s provisions for us. No wonder the word of God says my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. That knowledge which we lack and makes us to suffer in the midst of plenty, the Spirit of God has and will bring to our understanding, for profit.

Simon the sorcerer carried in himself the spirit of the world which spirit led him to want to garner wealth any how possible. His mind was not about the kingdom of God but self-aggrandizement. When Peter and his colleagues, bearing the Spirit of God operated in same and there were signs following, Simon also wanted to obtain the same Spirit because he found that they who had Him did wonders that he could not do by his worldly spirit. That made him to offer to purchase the Spirit of God, which of course is a misnomer. It was the spirit of the world that pushed Herod to allow himself to stand in the stead of God to receive accolades from those who called him God. He ended in calamity. The Spirit of God however, is the Spirit of liberty and ensures sonship for those who He leads.

There are so many today who are pretenders like Simon, who would pretend to operate in the Holy Spirit but are purely driven by the spirit of the world. God is asking that we do try all spirits and hold on to only that which is of God. Unless we do so, the spirit of the world is the spirit of deception and will get many deceived and conned into following the ways of darkness which end in destruction. The way to life is directed by the Spirit of God and Christ has offered Him to every believer. Those who are watchful will recognize the difference between Him and the spirits of the world.

Daddy, I thank you for your sweet and loving Spirit that dwells in me, who is greater than every spirit that is in the world. Let the same Spirit begin to quicken my mortal body better than before from today, in Jesus’ name. By the same Spirit let me be guided from hence to the places where your treasures for me are hidden so that as your child, I may never lack any good thing that you already provided for me, in Jesus’ name. From now, let me only be led by your Spirit that I may operate in your will to the very end, in Jesus’ name.
