Focus: Jonah 2:1-2 - KJV
1. Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish's belly, 2. And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.
Lamentations 3:52-57
Our God is Love and a loving father. He has no delight in the destruction of any soul. Whenever the enemy gets hold of a man, particularly those who are of the household of faith that may fall into destruction for lack of knowledge, it brings no pleasure to God. But for everyone that will call unto Him in the day of trouble, He comes through to the rescue. When out of ignorance we fall into the hands of the enemy like prey, the hands of God are not shortened to rescue us neither are His ears heavy to prevent Him from hearing our cry. But when we humble ourselves to repent from our wicked ways and call on Him, He hears us from His holy place and arises to our rescue.
God loved Jonah and raised him to be His instrument for the deliverance of a whole people. However, Jonah fell into deception in the hands of the enemy such that he abdicated God’s duty and opted to run away from it not knowing that he was becoming a prey to the enemy. In his escape, he became meal for a fish but for God’s love. The fish did swallow him but could not digest him. He found the breath to cry to God in his horrible state and God heard and commanded the fish to put him back on the course of obedience and fulfilment of destiny.
There are many today who assume they are doing themselves a world of good by running away from the Lord’s instruction. The Lord wants us to know that it is counter-productive as it puts them under the control of the enemy. But if when their peril shows, they realize quickly enough to return to the Lord like Jonah, the Lord will hear and act to rescue them from the enemy’s destructive tendencies. All it takes is to be humble enough to admit the mistake, repent from it and seek the help of God. The Lord is assuring us that there is no situation that is insurmountable for Him. Why not cry to Him today.
Let us pray:
May the Lord rescue you in the day of trouble. May the name of the Lord of hosts protect and shield you from all calamities. May He hear you today even as you cry to Him. May all seeming insurmountable situations give way as you pray today in the name of Jesus. That situation that had caused your head to bow gives way to laughter in your mouth this very day in Jesus’ name. No devil will be able to reignite the affliction again, in Jesus’ name.
Please share with others. God bless you.
