Focus: Proverbs 1:33 - KJV
33. But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.
Psalm 112:4-8
When a person obeys the ways of the Lord, he operates under a covenant that cannot be tampered with by the enemy. Those who fail to abide in the rule of God are often exposed to the wickedness of the devil wherewith he messes them up and scatters their resources even as he puts them to constant fear. But they that do fear their God are not so vulnerable. It is like being at a railway crossing and yielding to the warning light that says a fast train is approaching. In no way can the train crush they that yield the way to it. Such is the experience of those who obey God.
David as king over Israel did the will of God and got to experience rest on all sides. Even his kingdom is guaranteed from generation to generation to the extent that Jesus Christ was given the title ‘son of David’. King Saul was not like that: the kingdom was torn off his hands because he refused to hearken diligently to the words of the Lord his God. If he had done the needful when instructed, perhaps he would have had a lasting legacy and the kingdom would not have been torn off him. David was quiet from the fear of evil but Saul was afraid of evil from David where evil did not exist. A case of the wicked running when no one was in his pursuit.
The Lord is saying to us today that His word is the compass through which we can successfully navigate the earth and enjoy deserved quietness and rest devoid of evil, if we obey to do what it says. Let us therefore be careful to study diligently the word of God to do what it says even as we gain insight from it through meditation. When we do, it goes to show that we do fear our God and His promises to them that do fear Him will abide with us and make us overcomers indeed, upon the earth. Start today to study the word of God meticulously and with all seriousness.
Please pray:
Father, I thank you for your word that you made lamp to my feet and light to my path. Let the word so shine your light in my heart that through its illumination I will never go against your instruction, in Jesus’ name. Every time I pick your word to study, please grant me deep insight that I may not misconstrue your intention, in Jesus’ name. Let the benefit of obedience start to show forth in my life through quietness and prosperity, in Jesus’ name.
Please share with others. God bless you.
