Focus: John 14:13-14 - KJV
13. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
John 16:23-24
Prayer is communication between God and other beings. But when there is a barrier that prevents the successful link between the person praying and the one he is praying to, there is no way to expect an answer. For instance, when in a telephone conversation, there is a network breakdown, the parties at the different ends of the line are not able to communicate and the call becomes a waste of time. When such happens, except there is an intervening act, the communication is truncated. This is also true about prayer. Some factors, like sin and the accuser of the brethren, may cause interference in prayers thereby preventing effective communication. To overcome the blockade, the Lord recommends that we have clean hands and pure hearts. But, since He gave to the Lord Jesus Christ a name that is above every other name, the most potent cure to interference in prayer is that name. For at the mention of the name, all knees bow, including whatever it is that is the source of interference.
Peter and John were at the gate of the temple called beautiful and they saw a lame man there who begged them for alms. So many would have wished that the fellow become healed of his lameness and may have even said a word or two of prayers to no effect. But when Peter said to him “in the name of Jesus Christ rise up and walk” whatever it was that hindered the prayers of others from being answered in that situation was taken out of the way and Peter’s prayer was answered. As a result, those who felt they were closer to God and had prayed to no avail marveled and wanted to know how the prayer was eventually answered. Peter told them that the miracle name is Jesus. Now, because they did not so recognize Jesus, they did not appreciate the potency of the name in prayer. However, because of that singular act, about three thousand people who would love to have their joy full through answers to their prayers, decided to join the group of believers.
The Lord is saying to us that there is a super name that removes the clog in the ways of our prayers. It is a matter of faith though. Unless you believe, it is just like muttering any other name. But for all those who believe, at the mention of the name of Jesus Christ, their call to God, in the form of prayer, can no longer go into voicemail where there is a queue that will cause a delay and wait for angels to first process. It is direct access and not through an operator, when we pray in the name of Jesus. Those lingering issues for which we require help from above have lingered either because we have not used the name or we lack belief in the name we are calling. Let us with determination, gain access with ease to the one who can resolve all our problems by putting the name of Jesus Christ to use in aid of our prayers. No more voicemail or switchboard prayers but direct hotline calls guaranteed. Result? Fullness of joy. Give it a shot today.
SOLUTION: Never allow that problem to stay a minute longer; present it to the Lord in prayer asking in the name of Jesus Christ. Incidentally, there is no problem greater than God. Hence, when it appears the problem is not tackled, it is that the prayers are hindered and need to be cleared to ascend. Do the clearing by utilizing the name of Jesus Christ.
Please pray:
· Give thanks to God for His goodness in availing us with the name with which we can have easy access to Him in prayer
· Pray that the Lord will please make the name of Jesus potent in your mouth going forward that your requests may not linger in the waiting docket again
