Escape From Death

Focus: John 8:51 - KJV

51. Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death.

2 Kings 2:11-12

From the day of Adam, man became susceptible to death and therefrom, no matter the length of days of a man, he eventually ends up dead. That is why scripture asserts that it is appointed unto man once to die, and after that, judgment. A careful look at the historical stipulates in the Bible however, shows that some people did not see death but were transited. For instance, there was a man called Melchizedek: he is referred to as the high priest whose beginning and ending no one knows; there was Enoch that gave birth to Methuselah: he was said to walk with the Lord and the Lord took him without dying; and there was Elijah the Tishbite who was translated in the presence of his servant Elisha. Now, if God allowed that to happen, it follows that it is possible for man to cheat death if certain things are in place. Death is the final enemy that the Lord would destroy.

The death and resurrection of Christ brought victory over death. However, from the time of the said victory up till date, man keeps dying every day; but why? Perhaps it is that there are no such men like Enoch again who walk uprightly with God like he did; or there are no men like Elijah who was committed solely to the things of God and nothing else. Jesus had to die so that we may not die. He rose again that as He lives, we may live. Oh, second death? That is correct: some do not only die once; they die a second time when the Lord rejects them and bars them from entering into His bliss in eternity. To these ones, their case is more pathetic. Essentially, why must we die even the first death and not get transited when our times are up like the risen Christ, Elijah and Enoch? Why? Since we are dead in Christ, is dying the first death not tantamount to double jeopardy? After all, Christ has already kept our appointment with death.

Beloved, the Lord is opening our hearts to this great Spiritual realization that we may get committed to having it happen to us. Since Christ is the Lord and we believe that His words would not go unfulfilled, as He already said, if we keep His sayings, we will never see death; let us take Him by His word and see whether we can also be transited like Himself, Enoch and Elijah. Since God did it before, He sure can do it again. It must mean man has refused to keep the sayings of Christ and that has given death some bite on man. With God, all things are possible. Let us challenge God about this promise by fulfilling our part, and rest assured, that we will surely cheat death, both the first and of course, the second.

SOLUTION: To receive joy at the marriage in Cana of Galilee, the people believed the words of Mary and did whatsoever Christ told them to do, even if it appeared silly. Let us also keep His sayings like little children and see the power of the Most-High.

Please pray: Father, like you took the Christ that His body did not see decay, I do not want my body also to see decay. I believe you for your word and therefore pray that you help me by your Spirit to adhere to all your sayings, without fail, in Jesus’ name. Please make me an example of your true follower, to the world, that many more may keep your sayings also in Jesus’ name.

Kindly share with others if you have been blessed by this Guide. God bless you as you do so, in Jesus' name.
