3. Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart: 4. So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.
Romans 14:13-19
All that matters in the sight of our God is love. Whatever we do that do not end up in love, is inimical to God. Hence, God enjoins that we operate in mercy and truth at all times so that other men and indeed, Himself will locate us with favor. Mercy and peace are atoms of love. A person who is neither merciful nor seeks peace with his neighbor is not loving and therefore lacks understanding of the person of God. Those that do know Love and are loving find favor in His sight and He commends them to other men for favor. A person that is so favored finds life pleasant and for that matter, blossoms through and through.
In the days of Apostle Paul, some believers got into contention regarding the eating of meat which they claimed was offered to idol. In the face of some, those who did were contemned and ought not to be viewed anymore as part of the body. Whereof, believers became judgmental one of the other and caused estrangements in the body. Knowing that a house divided against itself cannot stand, Bro Paul set the record straight. What we should judge rather is that we do not place a stumbling block in the path of one another. Hence, if what you do can make another to derail, kindly desist from doing it. In that lies mercy, peace and love. Doing so keeps us all heads up and therefore loving towards God.
Friends, what pleases God is not that we condemn one another but that through love, we show mercy to one another and pursue peace with all men. Let us therefore be mindful of how we relate with fellow believers: we need not judge the other person but ourself to ensure that our thoughts, words and actions are loving to everyone. When we do so, the Lord is pleased with us and extends His favor and that of men unto us.
Please pray:
Father, I thank you for making me a part of your Church. Make me a pillar thereof and never a ‘s’caterpillar, in Jesus’ name. Make me a loving neighbor at all times in the name of Jesus. Let mercy always proceed from me to others and help me to pursue and maintain peace with others, in Jesus’ name. In all, let your favor and that of other men encompass me by, all the days of my life, till I meet with you in glory, in Jesus’ name.
Please share with others. God bless you.
