Key verse: Ephesians 5:9
(For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
Read: Galatians 5:22-26
Everyone that lives by the Spirit of God lives above the law. For them, there is no law. If a person never steals and can never be attracted to stealing, to such, the injunction that says thou shall not steal is irrelevant. Hence, for everyone that lives by the Spirit, there is no tendency to offend the law of God. Therefore, the scriptures recommend that every believer should live by the Spirit and bear the fruit thereof which is in all goodness, righteousness and truth, so as not to be partakers with children of disobedience. For the avoidance of doubt, the fruit of the Spirit is encapsulated in love.
When we live by the Spirit of God, we are guided by the same Spirit in love. When Adam bore the same Spirit at creation, he enjoyed fellowship with God on a constant basis. God dictated his living and that was why he was a living soul. When he challenged the authority of God, he caused the Spirit of God to be separated from himself and for the first time, after not having heard the inner voice for a while, he heard the voice he was used to hearing in himself from without him, within the garden and fear came because the living soul that sins, it “shall die”. Many refer to the cool of the evening encounter as a recurring experience hitherto in the life of Adam. God is a Spirit. He doesn’t walk about like men do. Once a man sins, he causes a separation between himself and the Holy Spirit of God located in him. That was what Adam experienced in the garden. And since there was no time when whilst he was led by the Spirit he was made aware of nakedness, it became clear that something had set in to make that state of his life glaring to him.
Adam was created to love. He rejected the love of God by disobeying His voice and obeying that of the enemy. Everyone that lives by the Spirit has the voice of God with him, undoubtedly. Whenever he yields to that voice, he bears the fruit of the Spirit. If, however he fails to hearken to that voice, since he is the servant of whom he obeys, he causes a break between himself and the Spirit of God and bears contrary things which lead to damnation. Are you yielding to the Spirit of God in you to bear the fruit of love or you are deafened to His voice and yielding to the enemy? It’s a matter of choice. Please choose life by bearing the fruit of the Spirit. The contrary leads to spiritual death. Please heed.
Pray: Father, please help me to abide by your Spirit never to fulfill the lust of the flesh in Jesus name.
