The Seat of Surrender
The heart is the control center of our lives. When we truly hand it over to the Lord, we allow Him to order our thoughts and actions. In this place of total surrender, we are guided by His wisdom, making us less susceptible to the errors of our own making. Error only creeps in when we insist on following external influences or our own stubborn desires. However, when the Lord keeps our heart, our path can become "bright and blossomy," and our lives thereby become a testimony that causes others to wonder at the beauty of our transformation.
The David Example
King David understood that God wasn't looking for religious rituals or animal sacrifices; he discovered that the Lord seeks a contrite heart and clean hands. By submitting his heart, David gained the ability to truly "observe the ways of God." His life of commitment and praise led to immense blessings, lasting honor, and a legacy that paved the way for the Messiah. Because David's heart belonged to God, the Lord fought his battles and gave him peace on every side.
An Eternal Commitment
The Lord desires to rule our hearts not to restrict us, but so we can correctly observe His ways and enjoy life both now and in the world to come. We abide in Him when we allow His Word to abide in us. His Word is the map that directs us toward a good present day life, and eternal life. Today, let us commit our hearts into His hands once and for all, choosing never to take them back.
Prayer
May the Lord rule over your heart from today, so that no evil find a place to rest within youin Jesus’ name. In the name of Jesus, may His presence lead you into paths of righteousness and abundant blessings. I decree that you shall never be led into error, frustration, or perdition, but that your life will reflect the glorious light of Christ going forward, in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
