God Defends The Upright

Writer: Jide OlaoreJide Olaore

Focus: Psalms 7:10 - KJV

10. My defence is of God, which saveth the upright in heart.

Psalms 7:6-11

God is never an assailant of any man. But He defends His own from the power of their assailant. There are human assailants, who are hoodwinked into wickedness by the core assailant of man, the devil. When such men begin to operate the enterprise of the devil, the Lord ensures He defends the upright in heart to forestall the wicked glorying in victory over the righteous. For how horrible will it be to hear that the scepter of the wicked is allowed to thrive over the head of the righteous?

The only sin Israel had in Egypt that Pharaoh wanted them killed was numerical growth and strength. Or was it a crime for one of their own to have helped the then Pharaoh to save the world from hunger and devastation? Yet, Egypt thought they should be enslaved and maltreated. God arose and delivered them through the hands of Moses, assisted by Aaron. They were defended by the pillar of fire and cloud. David did nothing to deserve the javelin from the hands of Saul. The king just wanted to kill him at all cost. But He who would not support the wicked stood by David and kept him away until his enemy was no more.

God is sending assurance our ways today that for as long as we operate in the righteousness of Christ, He would keep us defended from the enemy’s onslaught always so that he is not able to attack us as he would want to. The immediate presence of God in our lives will not let the enemy come near us in any way. Hence, He tells us to fear not whatever the enemy may want to do unto us for we have Him, the Lord of Hosts, as our defense. And if God be for us, who then can be against us? If God be our defense, all assailants put themselves in the danger of ‘self-destruct’ like the Egyptians and Saul.

Please pray:

Father, I thank you for always being my defense and having my back in the face of the battles instituted by the wicked. Please let not my enemy ever triumph over me. Keep the enemy constantly under my feet that I may trample them under foot and see the gains of their wickedness only with my eyes never to be affected thereby, in Jesus’ name. Arise today, O Lord and put my assailants to flight. The pits they have dug for my feet, let them fall into it themselves that they may know to abstain from wickedness, dear Lord, in Jesus’ name.

Please share with others. God bless you.
