Focus: Psalms 116:1-2 - KJV
1. I love the LORD, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications. 2. Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live.
Exodus 3:1-9
The Lord, who created the ears, surely hears. When Israel was in bondage in Egypt, the oppression of the Egyptians was heavy on them and therefore, they cried of their affliction unto God to come to their aid. Even though Israel did not know the Lord had heard their cry, the Lord appeared to Moses and told him, He already heard the cry of the Israelites and had come to rescue them out of the Egyptian bondage. David knew that God heard him and was therefore quick to cry to Him in whatever circumstance he found himself. He did not joke with talking unto God, who inclined His ears to him. Hence, when he was in the cave Adullam, he reckoned and said the Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want: and God provided for him in mysterious ways.
It is great self-disservice for a Christian to be going through stuff and keep mum without calling on the Lord. He is the one that says we should call upon Him in the day of trouble, and He would answer. It means His ears are permanently inclined unto us, waiting for our action in calling unto Him. If we fail to call, it is not His fault that we linger in our need. Bartimaeus was blind and a beggar. Though he did not see, but he heard that Jesus was passing by. He must have heard about Him being a miracle worker. Knowing his healing and deliverance from poverty depended on getting Christ’s attention, he cried out to Him. Christ in turn, inclined His ears to him to know what he wanted. In the end, he regained his sight, left his beggarly position and became an evangelist to the Decapolis.
Beloved, the Lord’s ears are not heavy that He cannot ear. He already knows our position and needs; but He needs us to speak out for Him to come to our aid. Why does He not just act: must we ask? He stopped doing that randomly since Adam accused Him of being responsible for his sin, because he did not ask for Eve. We must of necessity ask; the assurance we have in that is that His ears are attentive to us, and when we do our bit by asking, He would respond by coming with a rescue plan, like He did for Israel in Egypt. Someone once said a closed mouth is a closed destiny. Let us not close our mouths in the face of oppression. If we do, we surrender to the oppression of the devil. Please don’t.
SOLUTION: God is waiting for us to call on Him. Doing so costs nothing other than using our vocal cords to make requests of our God. It is difficult however, to call when our voice is not known. Hence, we must first have our names registered in God’s Book, for us to be recognized, and for God to incline His ears to us. Please be born again.
