God’s Presence Ensures Peace

Focus: Exodus 33:14 - KJV

14. And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.

Mark 4:35-40

Wherever God is found, there is liberty. The situation in the surroundings may be tumultuous, wherever God is present is preserved from turmoil. The Lord is the controller of the universe; there is therefore no force or power that can push Him down. And when He is present, He preserves all those in His presence from all machination of evil in the environment. In Egypt, Moses discovered that as the Egyptians were plagued, his people were spared and that, because of the presence of God. He therefore resolved not to go anywhere when God was not present. Everyone who must navigate the waters of life correctly and not be swept away in the storm thereof, requires the constant presence of the Lord. It is however possible for the Lord to be present and for some to yet panic in the storm of life.

Jesus Christ is the image of God unto man, as He told us. He told His disciples to cross to the other side in a boat with Him. While in the boat, it became boisterously stormy. Fear gripped the disciples when the storm appeared too devastating. Yet Christ was in the boat sleeping and undisturbed by the storm, knowing that He carried the Spirit of the father in Himself. When He arose out of their disturbance, He calmed the storm.

The Lord wants us to fear not any more for as long as we have Him in our boat. The storm that would destroy us must first destroy or incapacitate Him. Since it is impossible for any storm to achieve that, we have assurance of our peace and safety in Him. We ought not to be like those lily-livered who fear for immaterial things despite being in the presence of God. However, unless we be sure of the Lord’s presence, it is important we do not plunge into confrontation with the storms of life. Those who do are drowned thereby. It is important therefore to verify daily that God is present with us by talking to Him regularly and getting Him speak to us for affirmation.

Our Omnipresent God, I thank and worship you for being present with me at all times. Whatever I will do to forfeit your presence, please do not let it happen ever, in Jesus’ name. Let every storm brewing in my life and my environment be silenced because of your presence today, in Jesus’ name. Put an end to unnecessary fear in my life through the reassurance of your presence, always in Jesus’ name. Let not the devil put my life to shreds through fear dear Lord, in Jesus’ name. Do abide with me throughout the journey of my life, in Jesus’ name.
