Hate Evil

ree

Focus: Psalms 97:10 - KJV

10. Ye that love the LORD, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.

Psalms 97:10-12

To love God and love evil is an absolute contradiction. God does no evil. We cannot claim to love God if we hate our brother whom we can see, live with, and stroll about with. Since God is Love, once our hearts become tilted to evil, we expunge God (love) therefrom and thereby become contrary to God. Those who retain the Lord in their hearts are called righteous and saints. It is them that the Lord preserves since they carry Him in their hearts. And, guess what, the Lord loves to dwell in pure hearts and therefore will not allow any external force no matter how fierce, to expunge Him from His pure habitation. Hence, He delivers the possessor of the pure heart, His habitation, from the hands of the wicked. The wicked is only able to undo the righteous when he loses his defense in God.

The Lord Jesus Christ was said to have been anointed above His fellows, as first prophesied by the Psalmist, because He loved righteousness and hated iniquity (or wickedness). Until He submitted Himself for the death on the cross for an eternal purpose, His preservation was sure. David hated evil and his neck was preserved from Goliath’s sword. He was a man after God’s heart. When the Lord (love) departed from king Saul’s heart, those who sought his death eventually rejoiced over him by fatally injuring him such that he took his own life, because he lost his defense. Mordecai needed not be bothered about Haman’s stature and demeanor since he had his protector with him because of righteousness. But the wickedness in Haman caused him to undo himself.

It is the will of God that those who are called by His name would love righteousness and hate evil. What we hate, we abstain from. We cannot claim to be righteous and yet hurt others whom we are commanded to love. When we do commend our heart to love, we carry God in it. But it becomes contradictory to claim to carry God and resort to evil. God and evil are contrary one to the other. Therefore, if we must continue to carry God in us as His Temple, we must eschew evil in all its ramification. A failure to do so is tantamount to serving God a red card to exit our bodies.

Please pray:

Thank you, father for preserving and protecting me all the days of my life, thus far. In every way that I had participated in evil to grieve your Spirit before now, please by your mercy forgive me. Cast me not away from your presence; and take not your Holy Spirit from me. Remain forever my shield and my defender even as you prevent me from doing evil in any form, in Jesus’ name. This very day and beyond, deliver me O Lord from evil and the scepter of the wicked in Jesus’ name. Let your blessings for your saints manifest in my life anew today, in Jesus’ name.

Please share with others. God bless you.
