Living In Good Conscience

Focus: Acts 23:1 - KJV

1. And Paul, earnestly beholding the council, said, Men and brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day.

Job 27:3-6

Good conscience has to do with possessing a heart devoid of offence and not being easily offended by others. In fact, a person possesses good conscience towards God, when like Job, God Himself can testify that the same is without fault. The Lord Jesus saw Nathaniel and confirmed that he was an Israeli without guile. Job himself stated categorically, being sure of his heart and conscience, that he was beyond the faults that his friends attributed to him. He affirmed his integrity, just like Paul was able to boast in the Lord.

It is not enough that we are called Christians: it is important that we are found to be truly Christ-like by living with a good conscience towards God and men. No vile words to anyone, no maltreatment either deliberately or otherwise, no wicked acts to those that we are called to love, and no telling lies to them that the Lord has appointed us to minister to. When we carry these attributes, then can we like Paul, affirm with boldness to be of good conscience towards God and man. No matter the perception of men about us, we are to make sure that the Lord who sees all things, affirms our clear conscience in all our doings.

SOLUTION: Please do not be quarrelsome. No matter the offence directed at you, pursue peace with all men and holiness. Howsoever it is possible, find a means to mend fences with those who accuse you of wrong doing even if their perception be wrong.

Please pray:

·     Ask the Lord to forgive you of your past misgivings and things that had seared your conscience thereby making it not so clear

·     Tell the Lord to please create in you a heart of flesh that will live above offence in all ramification

·     Ask for the outpouring of the anointing of God into your heart that you may be able to minister in good conscience unto others

·     Pray that the Lord will melt every stony heart around and about you that all offence may be cleared today from all hearts.

·     Ask God for things you cannot discuss with men
