1. O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. 2. Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.
Exodus 15:1-18
Ordinarily, a noise is said to be a sound, especially one that is loud or unpleasant or that causes disturbance. Hence, making a noise to the Lord may sound like making an unpleasant or disturbing sound to our maker, in the ears of those who do not understand the things of God. A noise is joyful when it flows from a merry heart. A crowd in a sporting arena, shouts in exhilaration when their team appears to be advancing towards winning and they are happy. No one in the arena says stop the noise because it flows from a happenstance that warrants such reaction. The same is true of when some godly person acknowledges the goodness of God and gets so overwhelmed with joy to the extent of expressing himself with a shout of joy in praising the one who has benefitted him. This is what the Psalmist calls a joyful noise. He is one of the most qualified to say how it feels and what happens when we make a joyful noise unto the Lord.
When Israel came out of Egypt, upon crossing the Red Sea on dry ground, their joy got so exhilarating, they composed songs and sang, jubilated and shouted unto God. Even though God did not kill anyone, in their assumption that it was God that killed the Egyptian army by drowning them in the Sea, they were so jubilant and were hailing God for killing the enemy. God, who said thou shall not kill, but would judge based on the heart, left them as if they are righteous for it, upon their offering a joyful noise, the Lord even secured and continued to be with them considering they acted in ignorance. Hanna was mesmerized for being transformed from being barren to becoming a mother. She also made a joyful noise unto the Lord by composing a psalm unto Him. There are many up till today that are composing songs as psalms to the praise of the Lord. It is their ways of putting in the public their joyful noise unto God. Those who do, have found the beauty of praising God and the benefits that come with it.
The Lord desires our praises for all that He is doing for us, preventing the enemy from turning any of us into minced meat. One of the things that actually please Him is the ability to compose a song in the form of a psalm to praise the Lord. Where we are not so gifted to put a psalm together, we may just adopt and render the ones put together by others. But imagine if those others too did not assert effort to put theirs together: what would we have been using as psalms to make a joyful noise unto our God? For as many as carry the Spirit of God in themselves, have the grace to compose songs, hymns and psalms for the praise of the Lord. Some will assume they lack the voice for singing; meanwhile, the Lord has duly packaged into them the best of praise instruments that they have refused to put to use. If you cannot sing, you can think and meditate so that through the Holy Spirit, you get inspired. God craves your praises. When you make a joyful noise unto Him, He readily comes in it for benefitting you, on earth.
SOLUTION: Do all you can to always raise praises unto God. Your praises are enhanced if they are those you compose yourself and not just prototype that you sing out of your lips with your soul being absent. Compose songs of your own that reminisce what the Lord has done for you. He appreciates those who appreciate Him.
Please pray:
Thank you, Lord for all you have been doing in my life from the time I was conceived in the womb up till today. I will sing unto you, joyful songs and praises to your holy name for all your doings in my life from time to time. Do please accept my praises unto you in Jesus’ name. I crave the ability to compose songs of praises unto you, daddy: please inspire me by your Spirit that I may put them together in melodious ways to the glory of your name, in Jesus’ name. From this very day, let my heart be filled with joy better than ever so that the noise that will emanate from there to you will always be joyful, in Jesus’ name.
If you are blessed by this post, kindly share with your contacts, as well as others, that they may be blessed also. Thank you and may God bless you abundantly as you do so, in Jesus’ name
