The Message
Not all wisdom is created equal. There is a "wisdom" of this world that men applaud—one rooted in manipulation, "quid pro quo," or even falsifying records for gain. While the world may call this being "smart," it is inverted wisdom. True, divine wisdom always begins with purity and ends in love.
Even when we look at Scripture, we must be careful how we apply its lessons. Consider the different ways one might interpret the biblical "jawbone of an ass":
Vengeful Wisdom: Using the example of Samson to find "weapons" in the words of others just to ensnare or attack them. This is impure.
Protective Wisdom: Using words—as in the case of Balaam’s donkey—to help others avoid danger. This is God-like and loving.
Humble Wisdom: Following the example of the donkey Christ rode into Jerusalem—remaining mute, obedient, and fully surrendered to the Master’s purpose.
To twist God’s Word to justify "crass evil" or personal gain is a dangerous path. We may receive the applause of men for our cleverness, but if our actions are tilted against the direct intentions of Christ, they lead to condemnation. Let us strive for wisdom that is loving, non-vengeful, and pure, ensuring we never "gain the world" through inverted wisdom only to lose our own souls.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your Word which is a lamp to my feet. I ask for the grace to operate in the wisdom that is from above—wisdom that is pure, peaceable, and full of mercy. Deliver me from the temptation to justify wrong actions with Your holy words. May my life be a reflection of Your love and reconciliation, never being labeled a "worker of iniquity" in the end. In Jesus' name, Amen
