Focus: Proverbs 24:17-18 – KJV
17. Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth: 18. Lest the LORD see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.
2 Samuel 19:16-23
Our God is not in the business of having anyone reproached for reproach comes from the evil one. He it is that deceives man into perdition and yet forsakes him when the repercussions come. As for the Lord, if only we will hearken to His voice, the derailment or erosion that the enemy has prepared through deception, shall never stand. Hence, when a person appears to be going through a hard time, albeit out of his misdeeds borne out of the deceit of the devil, it was never the intention of God that he be so deceived and therefore, it can never please the Lord that we mock the same assuming he is our enemy. For all intents and purposes, the only enemy that man has is the devil. Where a human agent appears like an enemy, he is only a tool in the hands of the devil who has successfully deceived him, and use him in tormenting the person. And because every soul belongs to God, it is not His delight that any should perish.
David had sinned by usurping the wife of his lieutenant and killing him to cover up. The consequences of that sin included having the sword remain in his house and many other debasing things. As a result, he became debased when his son, Absalom rose against him to topple his kingship. Alas, on his way to exile, Shimei, a Benjaminite relative of king Saul, who always viewed him as an enemy for taking over the reins of the kingdom from Saul, rejoiced over David in his affliction and even cursed him. Perhaps, it was his action that God looked upon to hasten His mercy upon David to restore him to the throne. The same Shimei who used his mouth to desecrate the king came bowing to him on the way back to the throne. Wherefore, it is good counsel never to rejoice at the downfall of anyone as God did not put him in that state and may therefore arise to rescue him from his ordeals.
By the power in the name of Jesus Christ, wherever we had failed God that is making the enemy to make us a mockery, may the mercy of God prevail over judgment today, in Jesus’ name. May the Lord silent our mockers and cause them to line behind us in our new found celebration by Christ Jesus, in Jesus’ name. May God dumbfound everyone waiting for our destruction, failure and shame today, in Jesus’ name. May the Lord unseat the usurper of that throne that is meant for you today, by His power in Jesus’ name. And may we never be made a mockery unto the enemy ever again, in Jesus’ name.
SOLUTION: Never play God over anyone to rejoice at their hurt. Ours is to pray for them that despitefully use us and not to mock them when they are down, or at all. Please be compassionate at all times.
