20. But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt.
Isaiah 57:15-21
It is not a good thing to be wicked. It is a thing that brings torture even to the wicked himself. While he operates in wickedness and seemingly appear to be taking pleasure, others would wonder why it so appears. But in no time, his peace is taken away and he begins to live in fear even of his own shadow. When there is no one in pursuit, he sees a legion and takes to flight for nothing. He is like the wave of the sea and the troubled water running up and down. But his trouble emanates from his separation from the Lord who had loved and cloaked him and had been made to, in wroth, give way to the enemy. If, however, he would return to his first love, the Lord may wrest him again from the enemy.
Nebuchadnezzar lost his peace and rest for seven years. A whole king left his palace for the forest for seven years with hair on his body like the jungle beast; eating animal delicacies instead of the meal from the king’s table in the palace. He lacked decent shelter dwelling in the rain, sun and dew. He refused to acknowledge God in his ways and thoughts and the Lord was wroth with him and the enemy decided to mess him up so badly. One day, by the mercy of God, he returned to his senses and gave glory to God. And, God being love, had preserved his throne to restore him thereto. Whilst he remained wicked, he lost his peace. When he became humble, his peace was restored.
The Lord wants us to know that it is wickedness to ascribe any achievement or success to ourselves without giving the honor unto Him who made it possible. It is wickedness to not humble ourselves before the one responsible for our lives and wellbeing. It is wicked to refuse to hearken to His voice and commands particularly in loving our neighbors as ourselves. Those who fail to fear God are scripturally described as wicked and therefore will, of their doing, forfeit their cover from the Lord and thereby get exposed to the devil who is the stiller of peace. Let us keep ourselves in check and remain in God’s love.
Please pray:
Father, I thank you for your peace around me that passes all human understanding. If there be any sphere close to me where there is no peace, please by your mercy and faithfulness, let peace be restored fully there, in Jesus’ name. Do keep me in your love till I meet you again in eternity, dear Lord, in Jesus’ name. Let every issue of wickedness that may be operating in me be flushed out today by the blood of Jesus. I curry your peace more than anything else; therefore, let your peace encompass me by for the rest of my life, in Jesus’ name.
Please share with others. God bless you.
