Our War Is Against Evil

ree

Focus: Ephesians 6:12 - KJV

12. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Ephesians 6:10-17

Ordinarily, there is such a grave power in darkness. The intention there, is to cause man to remain perpetually in darkness where all manner of evil dwell. These powers lure men through wiles and devices to ensure that their victims deny God and His existence. They find ready tools in other men whom they have already deceived, such that when these tools are in action, their target assume the enemy to wage war against are the tools, not understanding that the real enemy is the power of darkness. Unfortunately, when efforts are deployed against the tool, it becomes futile in that the real cause of crisis is unaffected.

When an auto-mechanic decides to repair a vehicle and encounters a stubborn nut, if in the process of tackling the nut, the spanner breaks, he would only change tools and resume his assault against the nut. Jesus knew this, hence, when the powers of darkness spoke through Peter to dissuade Him from His assignment on earth, rather than wage a war against Peter, He attacked the power that operated in him by saying pointedly: get behind me Satan. And, of course, Peter desisted from that line of pursuit immediately after the rebuke. Jesus tackled the problem at the source and did not bother Himself with the symptom but the root cause.

God is saying to us that the real enemy we are to focus on are the principalities, powers and rulers of darkness of this world. They have experience so well that it is not difficult for them to mislead our brothers, friends and cousins into becoming their tools. Where we move against the tools, we will be the ones to suffer pain if our cousins etc. are taken out. Hence, we are to follow the leading and example handed down by Christ by shifting our focus to the real enemy and not their tools.

Please pray:

Father, I thank you for your loving kindness over my life to fortify me against the wiles and devices of the enemy. Grant me the grace and enablement to be able to stand in the face of the enemy’s attack, in the name of Jesus. Let the enemy bow always at my rebuke, in Jesus’ name. Do not allow the tools to succeed against me dear Lord, in Jesus’ name. Give me to the fullest the victory which Christ has attained for me already, in Jesus’ name.

Please share with others. God bless you.
