Peace Of God

ree

Focus: Colossians 3:15 - KJV

15. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

John 14:27

Peace is a relative term to many people. When there is some form of quiet, even though uncomfortable, some say it is the peace of the graveyard. There is another form of peace orchestrated by arm-bearing, fierce-looking men. Some had relied on same to their chagrin in that it is the same people they relied on for peace that caused their death. Yet there is a form of peace that flows from the Lord: they that observe it say it passes all understanding in that despite the surrounding imbroglio that may exist, the one upon whom such peace rests, is least affected or traumatized. Meanwhile, life is full of troubles such that when a person dies, he is said to rest in peace.

Someone once said the reason Christ wept at the tomb of Lazarus was for the fact that the poor chap having seen the peace and bliss on the other side of life would be reluctant to return and He, Christ, was about to disturb that peace. Looking at it in another way, despite the fact that He was told of the critical condition of His friend Lazarus, peace rested with Christ still while His disciples were agitated including Lazarus’ siblings. Even when He announced that Lazarus was dead, He remained unperturbed knowing that death is not the end and should not be allowed to steal our peace which we have from God. He raised Lazarus not because His peace was affected but to prove that He is the resurrection and the life as well as the Prince of peace.

God is saying to us that we trouble ourselves too much over nothing. If indeed, we are of the Lord, we ought not to lose sleep over anything at all on this side of eternity. If anything must rattle us, it should be where we will end up in eternity. If we are certain that when we transit from this earth we will truly rest in peace, then there is nothing to shake our peace on this side; if, however, we are not sure of the place of our rest hereafter, then there is real cause for alarm. Let us therefore seek the Lord and His peace today that we may not end up in turmoil hereafter.

Please pray:

Dear Lord, I thank you for your peace which you have given to me. Let me never lose your peace in this life and in eternity no matter what, in Jesus’ name. Let your peace that passes all understanding rest and abide with me all through my journey on earth in Jesus’ name. Everything the enemy may direct my way, targeted at stealing my joy, please dismantle the same, in Jesus’ name.

Please share with others. God bless you.
