Put On The New Man

Focus: Ephesians 4:24 - KJV

24. And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

Romans 13:11-14

There was an old man in Adam. He got into and took over his life when he disobeyed the voice of God and yielded to that old man’s voice. Practically, all that is in that old man is evil and nothing else. Hence, everything that Adam and his offspring did tended towards evil, manifesting the presence of the old man in him. But the Lord has given us a new man in Christ Jesus. However, man, being descendant of Adam in whom the old man dwells, has a choice to make between the old and the new man. Those who yield to obey the new man, have made the choice to put on the new man. Those who reject His instructions have chosen to stick with the old man for every man is a servant of whom he obeys.

The new man is made in righteousness and therefore those who put Him on, operate in righteousness as against the wickedness of the old man. Hence, those in the new man manifest the fruit of the Spirit in all they do and no work of the flesh is found in them as it is evil and of the old man. The fruit of the Spirit is particularly exemplified in the life and teachings of Christ, our example. He went about doing good, healing the sick, raising the dead, delivering the oppressed and restoring the lost to the fold of God, for God was with Him. Anything contrary to this is of the flesh and therefore, the old man driven. Every curse, hurtful prayers, rejection and desertion are never of Him who says we should pursue peace with all men and holiness without which no man shall see the Lord.

The Lord is saying we should be separated completely from the old man but rather carry on the new man and His righteousness so that in holiness we may see God. Many are out pretending to put on the new man whereas those that the Lord put in their care they work to destroy under the guise of the misbehavior of same. Incidentally, they still go about seeking to draw more people into their fold. Quarre: why should anyone believe that the same fate they put on those that had been with them would not be meted out to the new ones? Is it not a good place to say they engage in futile efforts believing they are serving God? Let us be mindful to operate only the ministry of reconciliation and never condemnation. Condemnation is of the old man who constantly accuses the brethren and commends them to separation from the Lord.

Please pray:

Father, I thank you for the good place that you have kept us that we may put on Christ and all His righteousness. Every outstanding trace of the old man in me, please expunge completely by the reason of the presence of the new man, in Jesus’ name. Every trace of anger and vile language against perceived offenders, please help me to overcome from today, in Jesus’ name. Take me over the mind to hurt anyone for whatsoever reason, dear Lord, in Jesus’ name. And like Christ, let me henceforth only be found in good works ever more, in Jesus’ name.

Please share with others. God bless you.
