Sanctified Vessels

Focus: 2 Timothy 2:21 KJV - If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.

Our usefulness to God is determined by our personal purity. A believer must deliberately separate himself from false teachings, corrupt influences, and ungodly behaviors. When a person cleanses his life, he undergoes a transformation: he is set apart exclusively for holy purposes; made fit, qualified, and highly useful to the Lord. The same must be ready at a moment's notice to be deployed for God's kingdom. God does not require golden talents, but He strictly requires clean vessels.

As a young slave in Egypt, Joseph was completely isolated from his family and his homeland. He was bought by Potiphar, the captain of the royal guard. Soon after, Potiphar's wife became infatuated with Joseph and repeatedly pressured him day after day to commit adultery with her. In a foreign pagan land, with no one watching, Joseph faced an intense temptation to compromise. Joseph refused to let his vessel be defiled. He didn't flirt with the temptation or try to rationalize it. His response showed a heart completely dedicated to purity. When she physically grabbed him to force the issue, Joseph literally fled the room, leaving his garment behind to maintain his innocence. Even though his purity temporarily landed him in a dark prison due to false accusations, God was actively refining him. Because Joseph kept his heart and life clean, he was meet for the master's use. Because Joseph was a vessel unto honor, God suddenly elevated him from the prison to the palace, making him the Prime Minister of Egypt. When a catastrophic seven-year famine struck the entire known world, a prepared Joseph was strategically positioned to save millions of lives, including the entire lineage of Israel.

Joseph’s life proves that purity is the gateway to purpose. If Joseph had compromised with Potiphar's wife, he would have stained his testimony and disqualified himself from being used by God at a global level. When you choose to purge yourself from the toxic compromises of the culture around you, you allow God to polish your life, turning you into a beautiful vessel unto honor that He can use to accomplish incredible things. Flee therefore, every lust that seeks to bring you into a compromise against your maker so that you may remain a vessel unto honor fit for the Lord’s use.

Prayer:

Dear Lord, thank you for the grace to be a vessel in your hands. Please help to keep my eyes focused on you and the goal for which you have set me apart. Let me ever remain sanctified and fit for your use so that I may continue to enjoy the benefit of your touch at all times, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
