Say No To Perverse Ways

Focus: 1 Corinthians 9:27 - KJV

27. But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

Hebrews 6:4-8

One sure thing is that the promise of eternity is sacrosanct. God has introduced the way to life in eternity to the entire world by the use of human agents. These agents are expected not only to be mere hearers or teachers, but also doers of that which they put forth. Those who fail to do what they do preach are, in the end the greatest of losers for they will behold the ones to whom they have preached stepping into eternal life while they are denied themselves. God forbid. The mind of God is that both the teacher and the taught make it to eternal life. For this to happen, each one must bring his body to subjection, yielding only to the dictates of the Spirit as it aligns with the preached Word.

The enemy does not want to lose any of his prey. The preacher comes and frees them from him in droves, and therefore, he is never relenting from getting the preacher. He spends more energy and effort in wanting to put the preacher into captivity. If he succeeds, the act of freeing his prey is halted or at least reduced. For this, he never rests in his pursuit of the preacher to devour him. Elijah was a reformer in Israel. Jezebel had the whole country under spell. When Elijah opened their eyes to declaring the Lord as God, and causing the death of the prophets of Baal, Jezebel was so wroth and verbalized it to Elijah to cause the mighty man of God to take to flight.

The flight of Elijah was physical; the flight of the believer should be constantly spiritual. Although Jezebel sought to kill Elijah physically, the enemy seeks to kill the believer spiritually so that he may miss the promise of eternal life. To forestall spiritual death which the enemy is hiding behind and dangling seemingly sweet carrot, we are to put our bodies perpetually under, avoiding sin or iniquity in all its ramification, so that when our pride and joy begin to enter in on that day, we will not be found wanting.

Every power working against your success in soul-winning are pulled down and removed for you now, in Jesus’ name. The strength to say no to the luring of the devil who seeks to devour you, receive now in Jesus’ name. No matter what the enemy may do, you will not be a castaway, in Jesus’ name. You will finish well and strong and make it with all your pride and glory entering with you, in Jesus’ name.
