Focus: Psalms 27:8 - KJV
8. When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek.
Psalms 27:1-9
Prayer is the way by which man presents himself and his needs before the Lord. Prayer is however ineffective unless the attention of the Lord is gained to listen and give answers to the requests. The ordinary needs of man are humongous by itself, talk-less of when the same is combined with the drawbacks from the camp of the enemy. It is the Lord that can help man to resolve all of his needs and troubles, per time. However, God’s eyes will not behold iniquity. To get Him to do what we require, we need to seek His face and that, we do when we put aside those things that block us from seeing Him.
David had gone to help the Philistine king and his allies to wage war against Israel, when one of the allies spoke against his presence in the team for the battle and he was told to return from going with that team. Meanwhile, while he went on his frolic, the enemy had ravaged his camp in Ziklag, capturing his wives and children and them of his lieutenants too. If David did not know to seek the Lord’s face, his loss at the time would have been permanent and he was likely to have lost respect and authority amongst his followers. But once he removed his foolish idea and sought the face of the Lord, he found solution to all of his concerns.
The Lord’s counsel today is for us to put aside all our shenanigans and focus on seeking His face. Those things we focus on against seeking the face of the Lord, expose us to danger and attack from the enemy. But, if only we will resort to seeking God’s face, He is available to help us in our affairs and give us the victory. Even now, He promises to restore to us all the years that the enemy has stolen from us, if only we will focus our hearts on seeking the face of the Lord. There is no battle we confront that is insurmountable for the Lord. Let Him start proving Himself today as we seek His face: He is asking us to do so.
Please pray:
Father, I thank you for loving me enough to make your face available for me to seek, and for shining your face on my countenance always. This day Lord, as I seek your face, kindly meet me at the point of my needs and make my anxieties fizzle away, in Jesus’ name. Let not my misdeeds of the past bar me from accessing your face, dear Lord, in Jesus’ name. From today, let my heart always yearn for your face, for therein lies my salvation from troubles, in Jesus’ name.
Please share with others. God bless you.
