Focus: Ezra 6:10 - KJV
10. That they may offer sacrifices of sweet savours unto the God of heaven, and pray for the life of the king, and of his sons.
Genesis 8:20-22
Our God is a great God that owns literally everything in the universe which is greater by far than just the earth. To narrow it down, He owns the earth itself and the fullness thereof. Hence, when a person is requested to make a sacrifice or offering unto God, it is not because the Lord is lacking in anything or that the said offering will assist Him in any way or manner, other than to show love and loyalty to Him that loves and preserves us. It is therefore important to note that we ought not to give things that are unworthy in sacrifice unto our God. David realized this and said when sweet savor is presented before God, it becomes acceptable to make intercession for the king and his family before the one who can protect. We should go into God’s presence with worthy thanksgiving and praise.
Noah was a “prisoner” in an ark for a while. God remembered him and set him loose. He looked around and realized what the Lord had done for him and thereby gave animal protein, which even he was not entitled to eat, to God in sacrifice. God honored his sacrifice and in turn permitted him also to take animal protein. God blessed him with the ancient blessings of the original Adam just for showing love to God. Hence, when we offer to God of the things which He has given us, we show Him how much we love and think about Him. The loftiness of the offering or sacrifice we give, sends a signal to God of the way we take Him. When the sacrifice of Abel ascended to heaven, it was because he gave bountifully from a pure heart of love. Cain and his sacrifice were rejected because his heart was not right with God. The sacrifice of a sinner is an abomination before God.
The Lord wants us to realize that we have withdrawn sacrifices with sweet savor from Him for so long and that is why our leaders do not seem to have a sense of direction to get us to green pastures. When we return to giving bountiful offerings and sacrifices that bring sweet savor unto the Lord, then are we able to pray acceptably for our leaders and the Lord will answer. Without the sweet savor, how do we assume we can enter the gates of heaven to present our requests? No! God is not hungry and therefore will not accept disgusting offerings from us. The point is, even if we refuse to give, we are the ones missing out on His blessing and He has nothing absolutely to lose. The sooner we realize that the better for us all.
SOLUTION: Take time to present unto the Lord from time to time, worthy sacrifices that will cause heaven to open for you with a blank check like it did for Solomon. A refusal to give is like sealing off the source of outpouring of greater things. Give and then intercede for your leaders.
Please pray:
· Give thanks to God for giving you all things ranging from life, health, material resources, shelter and safety etc.
· Ask God to please never allow His provisions to cease upon your life and family
· Pray that the Lord will grant you the heart and ability to render unto Him sacrifices with sweet savor, from time to time, starting from now
· Pray that your sacrifices would open the heavens for an outpouring of blessings upon yourself and your political leaders to do right to your country
· Ask for your daily bread today
