The Double-Grip of Grace

The Focus: John 10:28–30 (KJV) "And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. I and my Father are one."
We are guaranteed three unbreakable promises by Christ: He gives eternal life, meaning it cannot be lost, cut short, or undone by time; He states unequivocally that we shall never perish; and He places us securely inside His own nail-scarred hand. Then, He emphasizes that this hand is enclosed inside the Almighty Father’s hand. This creates a divine "double-grip." For us to be lost, an enemy would have to be strong enough to pry open the fingers of both Jesus Christ and God the Father. Because the Father is "greater than all," this is a spiritual impossibility. Our security does not depend on how tightly we hold onto God; it depends entirely on how tightly He holds onto us.
God did not tell Noah to build a boat and hope for the best. He provided a specific design for salvation from judgment. When the ark was complete, Noah and his family stepped inside. Note that Noah did not have to hold the door shut against the crashing waves. He didn't have to worry about the lock breaking. God Himself sealed the door from the outside. When the floods came, the earth broke open, and everything outside perishingly washed away, the ark was tossed violently on the waves, but because Noah was "shut in" by the Lord's hand, he was perfectly secure. He did not survive the storm because his own grip was strong, but because the Ark's seal was divine. In the exact same way, the believer is "shut in" to Christ, entirely safe from final condemnation.
If you are constantly plagued by the fear that you will slip up and lose your salvation, picture the double-grip of God as stated in our focus. Actively tell your anxiety: "I am in the Father's hand, and no one can pluck me out." When you realize your eternal destiny is entirely secure, you stop serving God out of fear of going to hell. Instead, let your obedience today flow from a heart of deep gratitude for a gift that can never be stolen. When trials, temptations, or spiritual warfare hit you this week, remind yourself that while your circumstances may be shaking, your ultimate safety is anchored by the One who is "greater than all."
Prayer
Lord Jesus, I praise You for the breathtaking security of Your Word. Thank You for giving me eternal life and for promising that I will never perish. When I feel weak, unstable, or overwhelmed by the storms of life, remind me that I am firmly held in Your hand, and completely enveloped in the Father's hand. Thank You that my eternity is sealed by Your strength and not my own. Help me live today in the joyful freedom of that perfect security. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Please share. God bless you.
