Text: 2 Peter 3:13
Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
Read: 2 Peter 3:1-14
Every promise of God is salient. Whatsoever He says, He will surely do. All He promised in the past He brought to pass. He made promises to Abraham, including the promise of delivering Israel from bondage of four Hundred years. He made it happen many generations after Abraham. He promised a Savior for mankind and He brought it to bear in Christ Jesus. Now, He says the same Christ Jesus is coming back to receive unto Himself His Church that is without spot or wrinkle: why would anyone assume it will not happen?
When the Lord shall judge the earth and the inhabitants, the whole essence of being which is righteousness shall be restored. There will be no more covetousness, gluttony, murder, immorality and the likes. There will be a new heaven and a new earth where the Lord shall be the light and there will no longer be night but day continually. There will not be fear there or anxiety: life will be full of bliss and tranquility. Because the Lord promised it, those that are His know it shall come to pass.
Are you one of His own? If you are, you also ought to join the saints of God in expecting the performance. Don’t just expect it in your mind and thought, start practicing the citizenship from now. Those things that are akin to unrighteousness, please flee from. Let it not be mentioned with you. Start getting prepared for the city of righteousness so that you will not be disqualified by the Lord.
He is coming to approve for the new earth, a Church without any blemish, spot or wrinkle. The least of wrinkles is a basis for disqualification. Let your heart be pure; let your hands be clean. Serve God in totality and not haphazardly. The day of His coming shall be unannounced, like the thief in the night. Are you sure you will make it with those things you are delving into now?
Father, I desire to dwell with you forever. Please help me to shake off every blemish, spot or wrinkle that may want to debar this my desire in the name of Jesus.
