The Place Of Righteousness

Focus: 2 Peter 3:13 - KJV

13. Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness

ree

Isaiah 66:22-24

The world in which we are is a training field to determine those who will be fit to dwell in the new world to be presented by God when the time is ripe. Like in the army, it is only those who are able to withstand the rigors of training without quitting that are presented with the army for the battle ahead. Even in sports, all comers may be assembled with a view to taking the fittest for the tournament. Those who are considered unfit do not make the final journey. In the same vein, the Lord has promised and would soon bring forth a new heaven and a new earth whereat nothing unrighteous will not be permitted access. Hence, everyone that has traits of unrighteousness are currently being screened and disqualified from the promise of God. Only the righteous will be admitted.

There is a clear position in scripture regarding the fact of a separation between the righteous and the unrighteous hereafter. It is in the story of the rich man and Lazarus. The rich man lived his life in unrighteousness in that he lacked love for poor Lazarus and presumably many more. But Lazarus was considered righteous and therefore made it to the place of the righteous in Abraham’s bosom. There was said to be a gulf that separated between the two places; even though people saw themselves across the gulf, it was impossible for one to cross from one side to the other. Clearly, there will be no mingling between the righteous and the unrighteous in the new heaven and the new earth.

The Lord is drumming it into our hearings again and again that it is righteousness that exalts a nation and therefore, He is about to present to the saints a nation of righteousness where no unrighteousness will be found, in the new heaven and new earth which every saint looks forward to. Unless we satisfy the test of righteousness on this side of eternity, our Coach and Lord cannot approve our flight to this place of bliss. We are therefore enjoined to please embrace righteousness and forgo all unrighteousness so that we may win the promise of the Lord in the end.

Please pray:

Father, we thank you for your love and your promise of a new heaven and a new earth. I look forward to this promise of yours: please do not let me miss out in it in Jesus’ name. Whatever need be done to perfect me in righteousness, please help me to achieve by the help of your Spirit in Jesus’ name. Let me not end up in the place of torment in Jesus’ name. On this very day, reveal to me wherever I need to make amends, in Jesus’ name. By reason of the righteousness of Christ which I have imbibed, please make me a citizen of your promised nation, in Jesus’ name.

Please share with others. God bless you.
