11. Now therefore perform the doing of it; that as there was a readiness to will, so there may be a performance also out of that which ye have.
2 Corinthians 8:8-12
There are so many who possess the will to do something but do not have the temerity to accomplish that which they will. Many will not want to offend God in many things but when push comes to shove, the flesh puts them under some weight that makes performance improbable. It is the mind of God that as we know how to will good things to do, we should also carry such willingness through to performance for it is only those who endure to the end that would be saved.
It was the will of Jesus to do the determination of the father by taking the place of mankind on the cross. He came principally for that purpose and it was so because He was willing to do it. But when He calculated what was involved, He of Himself expressed to the father how the spirit was willing but the soul was weak. If He had not submitted to the will of the father, performance would have been lacking. It was the will of Peter to be with Christ all through His travail, but his flesh became too weak for the performance when it was most crucial. Give it to him that subsequently in his life, he could never be deterred from fulfilling the love of Christ.
The Lord is asking that we also overcome the flesh such that at all times we may bring our good will to performance for the glory of His name. it is not enough just to will but to bring the same to performance. As good as it is to conceive kindness and love in our hearts, unless we put the same to performance, it is of no effect and consequently, vain. Let us therefore, pray that the Lord who comforted Christ by sending angels to minister to Him that He may perform His will, will do the same for us every bit of our ways in life.
Please pray:
Father, I thank you for making my will align with yours from time to time. Please release upon me the strength to bring the will to performance even in the face of immense pressure from the flesh, in Jesus’ name. Manifest in me the ability to insist on performing your good will formed in me, in Jesus’ name. As I can do nothing by myself, please make your angels minister unto me from time to time that I may never fail you, dear Lord, in Jesus’ name.
Please share with others. God bless you.
