Focus: Matthew 6:19-20 - KJV
19. Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20. But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
James 5:1-6
The word of the Lord is that it will be easier for a camel to pass through the eye of the needle than for a rich man to enter into the Kingdom. The reason is not farfetched: hardly is there a rich man that did not acquire his wealth through illicit, fraudulent or uncanny ways. The entrepreneur pays wages of a maximum 30% of the value of what he gets from the labor of his worker, keeping the 70% to himself not because he lifted a finger in the making thereof; some are in government stealing away the money meant to care for the entire populace without affording them a tenth of what they should get ordinarily; others use the name of the Lord to rake money in without using it for the purposes for which it was raised. In all of these and many more, where is the issue of love? The mind of God is that he who has two coats should give one to him who has none. The rich will have a hundred coats but be unwilling to give one to him who has none. They will prefer to give to those they can get some benefit from in return someday. The Kingdom is not for them.
Those who will make the Kingdom are they that are selfless and willing to succor the poor at every point in time. They are willing to genuinely contribute and use whatever they have for the benefit of the poor particularly those of the household of faith. They set out with the mind of putting the devil to shame regarding the lives of many who live in squalor by granting them better life from their resources. No, not by acquiring aircrafts with resources made in the name of the Lord while those around them cannot afford a good meal in a day. It is frustrating to see such people pass by those poor lads without showing compassion or lending a hand to assist. Those who do assist others lay up treasures for themselves in heaven where their hearts are and where nothing can erode the treasures.
The mind of God is that we do everything in love. When we acquire wealth at the expense of others, there is no love in it; when we refuse to assist others in need or under some pressure of sort, we do not show love. But when we give to the needy in a manner proportionate to what we have, we lend to God and by that we store up treasures for ourselves in the Kingdom of God, which treasures can never be eroded. Bear in mind, when we give to God here on earth, He assures of a hundredfold return here on earth even before we get the one stored up for us in the Kingdom. Those who assume they are deceiving God by what they give, pretending for the world to see that they are givers, forget that there is no mocking God: it is whatsoever a man sows that he reaps.
SOLUTION: There is nothing we brought into the world and nothing are we permitted to take out of it. The earlier we start to show love by spreading what we have the better. A refusal to support the needy is a denial of love to God. Love your neighbor. Love one another like Christ has loved you. Remember He laid down His life for you; He became poor that you may be rich. Do the same for others.
Please pray:
· Please thank God for whatever you have no matter how minute or large
· Ask God to forgive you for neglecting you in times past; pray that He will not demand your soul from you so soon because of it
· Ask God to please give you the heart of benevolence that you may store up treasures in heaven from now on more than ever before
· Ask God to equip you with real wealth by making you His treasurer, even as you covenant to spend the wealth in accordance with His leading as the true owner
· Ask for your daily bread for today
