Watch What You Say

Focus: Matthew 12:36-37 – KJV 36. But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. 37. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

James 3:2-12

The tongue of man is one of the smallest objects in the body, but is known to be more powerful and dangerous than any two-edged sword. It is with the tongue that words are uttered to some that push them straight into some form of depression or incomprehensible mental state. Yet, as dangerous as the tongue can be, it is also an agent of redemption when employed in a godly manner towards effecting the ministry of reconciliation to draw someone or another out of darkness by the word of the Gospel, into the marvelous light of God. It is the same tongue that aids its owner in praying unto God for help in matters he cannot handle by himself. Incidentally, it is the same tongue that others use in cursing people to destroy them. But God is not glorified in the evil use of the tongue. Hence, He promises to bring to judgment, every word that is said outside of love to, or about another person.

It was with the tongue that Abigail spoke to Nabal that he suffered heart attack, a man who was not sick prior; it was that same tongue of hers that pacified David earlier on from dipping his hands in blood. It was with the tongue that Elisha prophesied surplus in Samaria within twenty-four hours and the people of God came into sudden prosperity; it is the same tongue he used in cursing little children and they were devoured by bear. As death and life lie in the power of the tongue, God will rather we utilize our tongues to give life unto others, as this is the ministry of Christ. If, however, we speak ills about our neighbor to others, or to make him cut off from normalcy, we are bound to answer to God for the misuse of the tongue. It is best that we hold our tongues when we do not have anything glorifying to say than to say things that may bring us to judgment.

May the Lord forgive and cleanse us of the negative effect of the use of our tongues in the name of Jesus Christ. May we never live to regret things we have said with our tongues idly, in Jesus’ name. May the Lord show forth in our situations to help gag our mouths to prevent our uttering wrong things in Jesus’ name. Let the power of the Holy Spirit begin to bridle all of our tongues from now on in Jesus’ name. May we never be condemned in the end because of the way we put our tongues to use in Jesus’ name.

SOLUTION: Be careful with what you say. Listen more and speak less. In fact, as much as it is possible, never put your mouth into matters except it is absolutely necessary.

If you are blessed by this post, kindly share with your contacts, as well as others, that they may be blessed also. Thank you and may God bless you abundantly as you do so, in Jesus’ name.
