Abounding in Love

Today’s Scripture

"And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment;" — Philippians 1:9 (KJV)

Theme: Growing in the sacrificial and unconditional love of God.

The Reflection

Love is the very foundation of a godly life. As we deepen our relationship with God and begin to truly understand His character, our capacity to love should naturally expand. To live "unto the Lord" means that love becomes the primary filter for every action we take and every judgment we make. When we grow in this divine love, we find it impossible to intentionally hurt others. Instead, we offer compassion—even to those who have wronged us—because that is the heart of our Father.

Consider the depth of Christ’s love for us. While we were still trapped in the "grim darkness" of sin and facing certain destruction, Jesus didn't look away. He saw our hopelessness and chose to lay down His life so we could start fresh with a clean slate. This is the ultimate standard of love: it is sacrificial, proactive, and unearned.

Today, the Lord is calling us to reciprocate that love. Our mission is to love others regardless of their personality or how they treat us. We are challenged to love our neighbors—whom we can see—as a true reflection of our love for God, whom we cannot see. True spiritual maturity is reached when we are ready to sacrifice what we hold dear for the sake of another.

Today’s Prayer

Heavenly Father, I thank You for the grace that wiped my slate clean. I ask that Your love be multiplied in my life today. Release the grace I need to love others unconditionally, no matter the circumstances. Lord, clear away any bitterness or unforgiveness clogging my heart. Help me to live free from that weight, so that Your love may speak through me in every season. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Today's Challenge

Think of someone who is "difficult" to love or someone you have been hesitant to forgive. Perform one small, sacrificial act of kindness for them today, or lift them up in sincere prayer, asking God to bless them.

Please share. God bless you
