12. So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.
Matthew 25:14-46
God hates waste, and so everything He does is for a clearly calculated, and articulated purpose. He keeps infinite record of His deeds and the expectations thereof. To every man, He accords resources, whether spiritual, material or mental, for him to succeed in that to which he is assigned for the purpose of God. Upon giving us resources, He expects us to use the same as directed, for optimal result. Incidentally, whatever He gives to us is for our immediate profit and ultimate grand profit. Meaning that, the things God gives to us, He does not take back, for His gifts are without repentance. But in His love for us, He expects us to have life abundantly when we utilize His gifts to us correctly.
Through the Lord Jesus Christ we received insight into the fact of our accountability to God from the parable of the talents. Everyone is afforded talents according to their several abilities; and for each that puts the talents to use, he gained the same and every profit on it. But for the one who did not utilize it as expected, even the one that he had was taken from him and given to another. He further showed that these talents are resources in different modes which are applied in different perspectives: feeding the poor and needy, quenching the thirst of some, housing others and clothing yet some others. When we see the people in these categories or anyone of them, and we become blinded to them, we are actually doing it to Jesus. And those so found wanting will have themselves to blame when we give account to the Lord.
The Lord is saying, if we must be like Him, we must detest wastage, just like He does. We are therefore to ensure we put the time we have to good use and not waste it; we must not acquire and store up too many things that we do not need and fail to give them to those who actually need them while they are still useful. Those who fail to utilize their gifts will regret when stock is taken in the end. The place of joy for the believer is to yield now, while there is still time. No further delay.
Please pray:
Father, I thank you for your faithfulness in the distribution of your talents unto us and particularly the portion that appertains to me. As I continue in this life, please guide me to utilize my talents well, to your glory, in Jesus’ name. Whatever the situation of life may be, help me to identify you in people that I meet, so I may never ignore or desecrate your person, ever, in Jesus’ name. In the end, please let me be in gain and not at loss when I give an account at your feet, dear Lord, in Jesus’ name.
Please share with others. God bless you.
