Achieve by the Spirit of God

Key verse: Zechariah 4:6

Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.

Judges 16:20

When God created man, He put in man His Spirit to enable him and that made man a living soul. The man achieved much by the Spirit he possessed until sin was found in him and the Spirit left him. From that time, man had been a struggling soul. To achieve, he goes through great hardship and sweat. Those who achieve do so only by the tacit help of God. Consider Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph and so on. They were different in their respective generations because they had God’s support. Others around them didn’t so enjoy ease. Samson was such a special breed. He was born with a special mark that constantly gave him the ability to invoke the Spirit at will. While the Spirit abode with him, he enjoyed ease of doing things and over ran his enemies with ease. But like his fore bear Adam, when he grieved the Spirit and the Spirit departed from him, he assumed like many today, that the ability was his, not knowing that his enabler had departed. He asserted himself anew and found that he could achieve nothing by his power or might.

This has been the problem of mankind for a long time. Even now, many assume it is their intellect that gives them achievement not knowing that it is the leaning on God that affords ability. The Lord decided to create a new opportunity for man to excel and achieve again. So, because of His love for the world, He gave His only begotten son as ransom for the guilty verdict over man that man may be entitled again to the departed Spirit. As many as therefore believe in the finished work on the cross, is afforded an opportunity to become children of God with the addition of the reinjection of the lost Spirit in them so that they are rejuvenated and the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead begins to quicken their mortal bodies that they achieve much more than the ordinary.

If you too seek to achieve more than the ordinary, you need to imbibe the enabling Spirit whom you can only have if you imbibe Christ. Straining yourself to achieve without the Spirit is futile. If you have grieved the Spirit like Samson and now discover you are no longer achieving like before, you can repent and ask for God’s forgiveness and mercy that He may be restored to you.

Pray:

Father, I appreciate your Spirit in me. Help me by your Spirit to be quickened beyond the ordinary that I may achieve much more to your glory in Jesus name.
