5. Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
Romans 8:5-11
There are very many people who have been drawn out of the faith by the enemy even though they assume they are still in the faith. They keep on going like the persons of old not knowing that they had since left the faith and are fully operating in the flesh. But God sees that they are of the flesh and refuses to inhabit them. It is true that at conversion, the Lord took our bodies over as His temple. But is the situation still the same? The only way to answer is for us to check ourselves and confirm whether from all we are and do, the Lord is still resident in us. Everyone who has abdicated the Spirit for the flesh already forfeited the grace to have the Lord dwell in himself.
As simple as it sounds, the Apostles at a point decided to have all converts live in communism. In their decision, they collected everything the brethren had and administered the same as a team. This took them away from that which Mary had chosen as against what Martha settled for. They were serving tables rather than give themselves to the teaching of the word which is God Himself. When they examined themselves, they realized they had left the more Important thing for a nebulous, though important matter, which drops towards the flesh. To a casual observer, the Apostles did what was right but they themselves knew and adjusted themselves by appointing deacons to serve the tables, in their stead.
The Lord is asking us to search ourselves today and confirm whether we are where He kept us. Have we not left the place of the faith for the place of the flesh in ministry, secular works or even family life? The Lord is kind and does not want us to be too far gone before bringing us to the realization and repentance. Let us therefore check through the mirror of the word whether or not the God of faith still in-dwells us or we have moved Him out for the flesh to thrive. The sooner we restore Him in our beings, the better for us. Restore Him today and take benefit of His good counsel for your life.
Please pray:
Father, I thank you for making my body the temple of your Spirit to dwell. Please expunge from my being by your power, every issue of the flesh warring against my spirit, in the name of Jesus. Please let your Spirit reign supreme in my life and remove everything of the flesh from me, in the name of Jesus. Let your presence in my life be magnified with manifest evidence of blessings, in Jesus’ name.
Please share with others. God bless you.
