As Christ Is So Are We

Focus: 1 John 4:17 - KJV

17. Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.

1 John 3:1-7

The essence of being believers is to live the life of Christ while in the body. When unbelievers see us, they are to conclude through us that the Lord is good. Except such conclusion can be drawn from our being, we live misrepresenting the person of God. Aside the misrepresentation, we live a life of deceit to ourselves if we claim to be believers without the life of Christ being identifiable in us. The essence of being believers is about being truly, sons of God. If we are, then the gene of God ought to produce in us the mannerisms of God which can be gauged from the personality of Jesus Christ when He walked the face of the earth.

The first time that believers were referred to as Christians by people who themselves were not believers, it was that they saw things in the believers that appeared like what they had seen in Christ. So, the gene that flowed in Christ appeared to have been flowing in the believers of those days. The observers concluded that they were Christ-like and therefore called them Christians. A story was told of a young lad that returned from Church and told his parents he met Christ in Church on that day. Upon enquiry, it was discovered that it was one humble minister he saw and concluded that from all he was taught about Christ, this must be the one. But that minister was not the only one in Church that day, yet the young lad singled him out.

The Lord wants us to know that we can start bearing the semblance of Christ from our earthly life for all eyes to see. There is no doubt that as many as carry His gene will be exactly like Him at His appearing. Whatever it is we have in our persons that seem to be against the being of Christ we must do away with so that it does not debar us from making it in the end. Christ is beautiful and full of glory. Everyone that makes it has the assurance of the same description in the end. Please keep focus on the glory ahead and let nothing take you away from it.

Please pray:

Father, I thank you for adopting me into your family. I want to be absolutely like you. Let your Spirit in me transform my gene to yours that I may be exactly like you, in the name of Jesus. Please remove from me everything that resembles the enemy, in the form of the flesh, in the name of Jesus. Let your person shine through me unto the entire world that many more may be adopted into your family thereby, in Jesus’ name.

Please share with others. God bless you.
