Ask For Life

Focus: Psalms 21:4 - KJV

4. He asked life of thee, and thou gavest it him, even length of days for ever and ever.

Psalms 21:1-7

The mind of God is to give us life and life more abundantly. Nonetheless, attaining life is not automatic because of the activities of the enemy whose ministry is to steal, kill and destroy. He is completely against life and works hard to ensure life is not achieved of man. That is simply why he deceived man into choosing death in the garden. Hence, for a man to have the kind of life that God has in store for him, he needs to ask the Lord for life, so that the Lord becomes committed to backing up His promise of life to him, when He decides to give it. Of course, asking for life starts with surrendering the fake life to God and asking for the real life. The life that God gives is full of peace and joy.

Only in Christ is life and the life is the light of men. He is the resurrection and the life. No one gets life outside of Him. The widow whose only son died, got the life of her son returned by the truth and the life. Lazarus was restored to life by the resurrection and the life. Every man who comes to Him, He promises to give life to. It is the coming that is the asking. Those who are not keen about Him are those who do not request life of Him. They that lack life and ask of Him, He gives to them liberally. Beyond the life He gave Lazarus and the widow’s son, He gives life such that the receivers will never die. Requirement for this is simply to accept and opt for His offer.

The Lord needs us to realize that to restore us to true life which we forfeited in the garden, we need to ask of Him. When we do, He gives to us not just life here on earth and a pleasant one for that matter, albeit with its challenges, because of the prowling enemy, and a life in eternity which no one can gainsay not having seen or heard of the kind of benefits that await those who are preserved for it. We are therefore to ask God for life by ensuring we submit to Christ and do His will always.
