Believe And Receive

Focus: Matthew 21:22 - KJV

22. And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

Matthew 7:7-11

Prayer is the way by which the natural communes with the supernatural for great results. When we pray, we make our requests and perhaps, our circumstances known unto the Supreme Being, requesting for His intervention in one way, or the other. God to whom we pray, appreciates everyone that does pray, for prayer is an act of faith, in that we do not see God, and yet believe that He is. If truly we believe He is, we ought also to trust Him to do for us, all He has promised. Hence, whenever we pray, we should know that what we place before Him to do, He will do it, if it meets with His will and purpose. It is of paramount importance to believe what we ask for; else it may elude us. It is a waste of time to pray and not believe in God for what we pray.

However, it is possible to pray for days and get no response, if we ask to consume the result on our lust, away from the will of God for our lives, at the point in time. No one knows the father more than the Lord Jesus Christ, and therefore, no one believes the father more than Himself. Nevertheless, a time came in His life when He agonized in prayer. The reason He agonized was that He knew the will of the father and He was praying against it. Even though His sweat was like drops of blood, He got a ‘no’ for an answer. Elijah believed God for rain to free the people of God from draught. He prayed with assurance that God would answer and after checking seven times, the servant discovered the sign of the rain prayed for. The difference is praying in accordance with the will of God.

It is true that He who asks receives; it is also true that God is not wicked. It cannot be right to ask God for the destruction of a fellow human being and expect to receive, when the will of God towards the fellow is of good and not of evil that he may come to an expected end. It is equally unfounded to seek to hold on to something to the detriment of every other being and expect God to approve such lusting. When we proceed to the place of prayer, it is of utmost importance to ensure we ask in love, which is in accordance with the will of God. It is the will of God that none be barren. Hannah was a regular visitor to Shiloh for religious rituals. For years, no child was given her. One day at the same venue, she asked for a son who would be God’s prophet and with a bang, the embargo placed on her life was lifted. She believed God for His will and received.

SOLUTION: Without faith, it is difficult to receive from God. With our faith, we must ensure we ask according to His will to receive. His will is to pray in the name of Jesus and believe; His will is to love our neighbors as ourselves. Praying outside these may not yield expected recompense.

Pray thus: Father, I stand in your will today and ever more; please, grant the desires of my heart as I put the same to prayers before you, in Jesus’ name. I believe that my requests are answered without delay and therefore, I hold on to you for the evidence thereof at all times, in Jesus’ name.
