Ephesians 4:17-27
The behavior that is expected from a sinner is naturally to sin. Every man, prior to the death and resurrection of Christ, had sinned in the similitude of Adam. Man born even after, is with choice to determine whether to live his life according to the ways of the sinner, or in a better manner, following the directives of Christ, the Savior. When a man decides for Christ, he decides to jettison the old man and his ways which are the despicable ways of sin and take on the new man, His nature and behavior, which are radiated in righteousness. Such is founded in love which is the fulfilment of the law.
The disciples were looked upon in Antioch and called Christians because their manners and patterns of behavior depicted that of Christ in the sight of those viewing them. This is so essential and critical for every believer to emulate so that the name of the Lord is not brought into disrepute through them. If someone decides to shed the old man, the traits of the same ought no longer to be found in him. Saul of Tarsus was a murderer before deciding for Christ. Once he so decided, he became an Apostle of the Light and stayed clear from everything that represented darkness. When Peter was still in between love and the law, God showed him in a vision never to despise those things that He had cleansed. Peter therefore, jettisoned his vile thoughts for the Gentiles and opted for love.
It is important for the believer in Christ to embrace the tenets of Christ which are basically found in the fruit of the Spirit. We cannot claim to be of Christ and still embrace, or do the things of the flesh. It is absolutely contradictory of our newness in Christ. God is therefore, saying that we should consciously seek the help of the Holy Spirit to completely shed the old man and his evil nature, even as we fully imbibe Christ and begin to bear the fruit of the Spirit. It is not something we can achieve by our power but simply by the Holy Spirit.
Please pray:
Father, I thank you for the much you have achieved in me by your Spirit that I may imbibe love fully. Please continue to work on me that I may no longer manifest the works of the flesh. Every little fox still manifesting and showing its ugly head in my life, please help to eradicate by your Spirit, in Jesus’ name. Keep me in you that I may only show forth fruit worthy of repentance and be acclaimed to be yours, always, in Jesus’ name. Make me a part of your Kingdom to the very end, dear Lord, in Jesus’ name.
Please share with others. God bless you.
