Choose The Right Part

Focus: Luke 10:41-42 – KJV 41. And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: 42. But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

1 Corinthians 7:29-35

Compliments of the season. There is a frenzy in the air. Everyone is about feasting in commemoration of the day the Lord was born. Many who do not have resources because of the signs of the times, have had to go visiting just so as to find a place to feast in the celebration mode; others who do not have a place to visit have been blaming and cussing wondering whether God still remembers them. All around, it is about how and what to munch in celebration and nothing about the real deal. When Jesus walked the face of the earth, He visited His friends in Bethany where the trio of Mary, Martha and Lazarus were. Anyone would be glad to welcome the miracle worker and His friends into their house at the time. And to show hospitality, it was never out of place to put together a feast for them. However, while the lady of the house, Martha, was busy putting together a feast, Mary the younger, was sitting at the feet of Jesus listening to what He had to say. Of course, Martha was crossed with her and rather than show her angst against her sister, not wanting to be rude to the Master at whose feet she sat, Martha reported the matter to the Master hoping He would come to her aid. Alas, the Master spoke in favor of Mary.

Life does not consist in feasting and merry making and that is why it is said that man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. And, since the words that Jesus speak are spirit and life, it is more rewarding to be at the place of feeding on the word than feasting on bread and milk. It is not a bad thing to be hospitable particularly when we could be entertaining angels when we do. It is however, a matter of priority: should we because of feasting and entertaining guests abdicate the word of God? It seems more desirable to be where the word is found as therein lies life – His word is spirit and it is life. Why can we not therefore turn Christmas seasons to a time of feeding on the word rather than going about with low spirit at times, searching for food when the Bread of Life can easily and freely be made available. That is the right part.

The one who made two fish and five loaves of bread to feed five thousand with remnants left, shall ensure from this day that you will never lack bread, in Jesus’ name. As He gives you bread to eat, He will also ensure that the Bread of Life is never scarce for you in Jesus’ name. Your feasting on the word at this time shall make you to overflow with the oil of gladness into the new year and beyond, in Jesus’ name. The power in the oil shall cause you to be celebrated all year round in Jesus’ name. The Lord Himself, whom you get to know by His word, shall be your companion all through your life from now, in Jesus’ name.

SOLUTION: Seek the word of God more than anything else. It is through the word that you get to know the Lord more and you are able to please Him in the journey of life.

If you are blessed by this post, kindly share with your contacts, as well as others, that they may be blessed also. Thank you and may God bless you abundantly as you do so, in Jesus’ name.
