Stay In Your Lane

Focus: 2 Chronicles 26:15-16 - KJV

15. And he made in Jerusalem engines, invented by cunning men, to be on the towers and upon the bulwarks, to shoot arrows and great stones withal. And his name spread far abroad; for he was marvellously helped, till he was strong. 16. But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up to his destruction: for he transgressed against the LORD his God, and went into the temple of the LORD to burn incense upon the altar of incense.

1 Kings 13:1-4

There was a prophet named Balaam who was known for having whatever he said. He got to know the mind of God over his mission to go and curse Israel on behalf of Balak, but for money, he decided to go ahead until an angel accosted him to stop him. Uzziah was a king in Israel who was elevated at age sixteen. A time came that he assumed so much of himself and his puffing up made him to wrong God in that he went to burn incense, a thing left for the priests to do. King Saul went overboard when he refused to stay in his lane and offered sacrifice meant for Samuel to do. When Jeroboam crossed his bounds by burning incense on the altar that God spoke against, he got his hand withered when he moved against the messenger of the Lord. It is pride that makes a messenger of God to go ahead to operate in an assignment not purposed for him and the effect is mostly devastating.

Today, the Lord is asking us to focus on our callings and particularly, desist from going into things we are not called to, for pecuniary gains. It tantamount to merchandising the things of God. It is never a thing that God approves. Balaam would have had himself killed in his blindness if not for the seeing donkey he rode that saw the angel and his sword. Saul lost the kingdom with his generations. When we because someone is doing well in a vocation or calling, we decide to do the same, we may end up getting our fingers burnt. When it pertains to the things of God, for as long as God does not approve, it ends up being exercise in futility. Money may appear to be flowing from it, but what will be the position of God on it in the end? It is the end that we must be particular about and not momentary nefarious gains. Those who do it are considered proud towards God.

SOLUTION: Never take up a roll the Lord has not called you into, particularly when it is done for ulterior motives with pecuniary considerations.

Please pray:

·      Give thanks to God for finding you worthy of serving Him in whatever status you are engaged

·      Ask God for the grace and enablement to function to the uttermost in your office so that you may become the good example for others to emulate

·      Tell God to please keep you focused on your assignment from Him without deviating in any manner

·      Ask God to please forgive you if in the past you have been engaged in frolicking away from your actual calling

·      Ask God to equip you with those things you require to be the best that you can be in life.

If you are blessed by this post, kindly share with your contacts, as well as others, that they may be blessed also. Thank you and may God bless you abundantly as you do so, in Jesus’ name.
