Christ Our Sanctifier

Writer: Jide OlaoreJide Olaore

Focus: Hebrews 10:10 - KJV

10. By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

Hebrews 10:14-29

To sanctify is to set apart. The law through Moses did prescribe a way unto sanctification through the offering of the blood of animals in sacrifice. Unfortunately, such sacrifices were borne out of the flesh and could not take away the sin of man to have him restored through sanctification to the living soul that the Lord made him. However, by the volunteer sacrifice of the blood of Christ, the will of God was met which was for the blood of man to atone for the sin of man for the wages of sin is death. By the payment of such ransom, man was taken out of the problem sin created once and for all. This is what Christ did for mankind. After His offering, there is no other offering for sin; hence, if anyone returns to the old ways, the Lord is not happy with him for he makes the sacrifice of the Lord vain concerning his person.

This is the crux of the whole sacrifice of Christ on the cross: his blood for ours and his body for our body. If then after He bore all of that for our sakes, we decide to stray away from the sanctification He brought us into, we seek to sacrifice the King of glory anew and that is outside of the will of God. When Peter rebuked Ananias and Sapphira, it was clear that they were meant to be among the sanctified. However, since they operated in abeyance of their sanctification, he judged them to have lied to the Holy Spirit, a sin that Christ had declared unpardonable. They stood condemned. Peter himself was at the verge of messing up his sanctification when rather than engage in fishing men he went seeking fish in direct disobedience to the voice of his Lord.

The Lord wants us to know that we have been bought with a price and we need to be obedient to the one who so paid the price who now is our Lord. If He then be the Lord, we ought all to obey Him for there is no longer a sacrifice for sin other than that which has been paid. Let us therefore serve our Lord with diligence so that we do not end up sending Him to the cross anew; a position the Lord abhors.

Please pray:

Father, I appreciate your sacrifice for the salvation of my soul. I look to you Lord for direction every bit of my life so that I may remain separated unto you to the very end, in Jesus’ name. Please, do not let me ever draw mud to your face in any way, dear Lord, in Jesus’ name. Let everything that lures me towards sin die and never come alive again, in Jesus’ name.

Please share with others. God bless you.
